Landau "Thepicompromise" Album Review

REVIEW BY: John Reveles at igloomag.com
Landau's debut disc for Merck, thepicompromise is the first album in a long time that has kept my head un-still for its entire run of playfully complex, skittering tracks brimming with original textures and melodies that toy with the idea of overexposing too much classic IDM influence, but maintain their composure in that respect.
"Six Ways To Sunday" sets the precedent with eager mid-tempo rhythms emerging from static electricity as bright melodies fade in and out expressing their sentiments with somber flute on "Brokenfader Break" and antiqued pads on "Spring Showers." The jazzy "About Face" could be easily confused with an out-take from Double Figure-era Plaid, yet Landau manage to keep it original with an inventive use of a vocal sample that makes it another piece of the sonic puzzle rather than a separate entity on its own. If truly unique rhythm-contortion with some flair interests you, give "Fondue" a stir and listen as its creamy loops fold and collapse into each other with mind-bending effects. Landau completes their set of collected emotions with the perfectly complex "Independence," where the best elements of their melodies and rhythms all mesh together for a fitting end to an impressive start.
thepicompromise is buttery emotional electronica 6 years in the baking for those of us with a taste for deep dish that fails to disappoint. Call in your order and see for yourself.

Electro and Co "Electro and Co" Album Review
Review
With the long-awaited release of their second album "Radio Whales," Instrumental electro-rock media-art performance group Infinite Number of Sounds affirms their roots with penetrating diversity and sincere production values. INS presents their fans, old and new, with an album representative of their edgy live sound, depth and humor. It documents their trasnformation from an electronics-based experimental project to the professional, touring performance group they have grown to become, and introduces several new compositions.

MARSHEAUX - EBAY QUEEN

Marsheaux "Ebay Queen" Album Review
Very good 80's music from two girls of Thessaloniki, Macedonia
Very good electronic music. "Promise" is outstanding. Marsheaux takes you back in the eighties and revive Human League, Depeche Mode etc.

Marsheaux signing the numbered limited edition of "Peek a Boo" album. www.myspace.com/marsheaux MARSHEAUX are a female electro pop duo from Thessaloniki (Greece). The two girls moved in Athens on 2000 and on 2003 they made MARSHEAUX in order to express their love for the electropop of the 80's and the sounds of synthesizers and drum machines. The problem of naming the band was easily solved by combining the first syllables of their names, MARIANTHI and SOPHIE. Their first release was a cover of the classic HOT BUTTER's Popcorn with a great success in Greece. They make synthpop music in the tradition that YAZOO, HUMAN LEAGUE, DEPECHE MODE and OMD did.
